pretty paper garland

I've had a major obsession with paper garland for awhile now. And with Valentines Day getting closer, I've been seeing a ton of cute paper garlands on pinterest. So when I got sick of cleaning the house yesterday I took a quick break and made my own.




Its so simple! Make one!
1. Find pretty papers that look good together.
2. Cut out a bunch of different sizes of circles (I used my mom's cricut).
3. Run them through a sewing machine!

It took about three minutes and now I have a cute festive decoration in my living room. They are pretty fun to make. Addicting, actually. I'll probably have another one made before the end of the night!

I finally finished this project on Sunday. And I'm in love. It was supposed to be finished before the end of last year but life got too busy. Anyway, I think I'm going to make one of these granny square blankets every year. I'm already in the process of deciding what colors I'm going to use for my next one! They're so easy...anyone can do it! And for me, its completely therapeutic.

Hello Hello Hello!

I'm very happy right now because I'm done with school for the semester annnnd because I'm listening to Christmas music. Seriously, things couldn't be better. I love December. And I love being out of school.

Speaking of December, I'm working on my December Daily album. This is my first year making one and its been a lot of fun so far. It seems like EVERYONE is doing it, so I gave in. Plus, I figured this December has the potential of being very exciting since the boy gets home in less than 15 days! :)
Thats right...he will probably get here really really late December 17...meaning I probably won't see him until Friday the 18th. So soon!
Anyway, if you haven't heard about the December Daily album, check here to find out what its all about!
Pretty much you put together an album BEFORE December starts and then every single day leading up to Christmas you document what you did. Now I'm not completely finished with the construction of my album but I'm working on it! And I've been successful in documenting each day so far. I know, I know...its only December 3rd but that still counts for something right?

It is composed of scraps. But I kinda like it that way. Nice and cheap. And very..uh..scrappy.
I'll try to share some of the pages as I finish them each day. Just for fun.

Well I have a list of things that I want to do before school starts again in January.
One of the things on that list is to learn how to knit.
I sat down with my mom Sunday night and she taught me how to knit. I'm still struggling with casting on (simple, I know...). I think perhaps its because I'm being taught how to do it right handed...and I am sooo not right handed. It just feels funny. And backwards. She tried to teach me how to crochet right handed a long time ago and it never worked. I finally learned how to do it my way.
Anyway I have a couple of Christmas gifts planned that involve knitting so it would be kinda nice if I could get it figured out here pretty soon :)
In fact, I better go practice right now. Pictures later maybe? Wish me luck.

new found love!

Okay, so a couple months ago I posted a picture of a quilt kit that I was really excited to start. Well I started it back then...but all I did was cut the strips. Then it got shoved in the corner. Over this Memorial Day weekend I pulled it back out. And finished it! Well not quite. All thats left is the binding which I am working on tonight. After work on Sunday I came home and laid out all the strips, pinned the back and the batting together and then began sewing. I wasn't able to get too much done because it was late but I was hooked. I LOVE quilting!!! When I woke up Monday morning that was the first thing I wanted to do. I worked on it for 5 hours straight and finished it...well except for the binding.
I think my favorite part is the rick rack. :]

I'm ready to start my next one. I'm going to start cutting my squares out of the Heather Ross fabric I bought a month or so ago.

AND I just ordered some more fabric for ANOTHER quilt pattern that I saw at a store on Saturday. It should be showing up in the mail any day now.
I think this is probably one of those hobbies that I should not have gotten into...

My sister and I went and saw Earth last night. And the best part was that it only cost $3.50 for the both of us (mmhmm...gotta love buy-one-get-one-free coupons and Tuesday Bargain night at a cute little twin theatre). Okay so that wasn't the best part...the movie was the best part. More specifically, the polar bears were the best part. They were so cute. I wish I had one for a friend. The movie was beautiful and it made me glad that I'm not an animal. Nah, it really opened my eyes. It was good.
I'm recommending it to everyone.

And sadly, my holga film still hasn't come back. I was informed that it could take up to two more weeks. Seriously?!!
